With the increasing popularity of televised Ultimate Fighting Championships and other Mixed Martial Arts events, more and more criminals have integrated choking and fighting from the ground into their training programs. Unfortunately, most law abiding citizens and police officers have no idea how to fight from the ground or counter some of the moves and holds that criminals use in their attacks. Join instructor Greg Ellifritz as he teaches simple, easy to learn, gross motor skill techniques to avoid going to the ground and to escape the groundfight if you are too late to avoid the attack.
Greg is currently a full time police training officer who has a 25 year background in grappling. He wrestled competitively and has studied both Judo and Ju-Jitsu. Greg has related ground fighting instructor or master instructor certifications from Krav Maga Worldwide, Armor Holdings, Modern Warrior, OPOTA. and Rape Aggression Defense Systems. Additionally, Greg has received training from such grappling legends as Royce Gracie, Relson Gracie, Shawn Chitwood, Frank Shamrock, and Dan Severn. He also spent more than three years training students as the lead groundfighting instructor for a commercial martial arts gym.
Topics covered in this class include: ground defense positions, kicking and striking from the ground, empty hand lethal force techniques, escaping from the mount and guard positions, escapes from common submission holds, and choke defenses. Students will also learn how to deploy and defend their own weapons from a grounded position, as well as how to defend against both firearms and edged weapons threats on the ground. This class has no prerequisites but is somewhat physically demanding. We will work with every student regardless of physical limitations, but please expect two full days of physical activity
